Smartphone manufacturer TECNO has announced the global winners of its 2025 Shot On CAMON Photography Contest, recognizing exceptional talent and creativity among photographers from across emerging markets.
The announcement was made in a statement released on Monday, with TECNO highlighting that this year’s competition saw more than 10,000 entries from 56 countries.
The 2025 edition carried the theme “Capturing the Pulse, the Bond and the Motion of Life,” emphasizing human connection and emotion through the lens of mobile photography.
According to The Africa Standard, the contest has quickly become one of the most inclusive global photography platforms, providing creators in developing regions a chance to showcase their artistic vision.
Organized in collaboration with Amateur Photographer magazine, the Shot On CAMON contest empowers photographers to tell authentic human stories through images captured with TECNO devices.
Now in its second year, the competition underscores TECNO’s commitment to digital innovation, creative expression and cultural diversity.
A total prize pool of $37,000 was distributed among ten outstanding participants who demonstrated creativity, storytelling and technical mastery.
The top winner, named TECNO Photography Master, received the Grand Prize of $10,000, while Gold, Silver and Bronze winners earned $5,000, $3,000 and $1,000 respectively.
In addition, ten other contestants received the TECNO FriendPrize, each awarded a CAMON 40 Premier 5G smartphone.
Commenting on the success of this year’s event, Amateur Photographer editor Nigel Atherton commended the diversity and originality of the submissions.
“This year’s Shot On CAMON contest shows clear growth not only in numbers but also in creative confidence,” Atherton said. “Many participants shared powerful stories of everyday life, each with a unique visual identity.”
He added that TECNO’s investment in creative empowerment across emerging markets represents a meaningful contribution to global visual culture.
TECNO Chief Marketing Officer Laury Bai said the contest celebrates more than just photographic technique.
“Through Shot On CAMON, TECNO celebrates the power of perspective,” Bai said. “Every image captures the heartbeat of human experience and connects people across borders.”
Bai emphasized that TECNO’s commitment to innovative camera technology allows more creators to share their stories with the world.
From May 1 to September 30, 2025, photographers were invited to submit entries across three categories: Snap Every Pulse, Snap All Fleeting Bonds and Snap Any Motion.
Each category encouraged participants to explore emotion, connection and movement through their own creative interpretations.
The 2025 TECNO Photography Master title went to Nigerian photographer @micheal_the_colorist for his image titled High Spirits.
The photo, taken with a CAMON 40 Pro, captured friends leaping joyfully into the air, their colorful clothing forming a lively pattern against a bright blue sky.
Judges praised the photo for its perfect balance of composition, energy and symbolism, describing it as “a visual celebration of youth and freedom.”
In the Snap Every Pulse category, the Gold Prize went to an evocative image of a young girl running down a sunlit street in Nigeria, her white dress dancing with the dust.
The Silver and Bronze Prizes were awarded to photographers who captured the rhythm of daily life through playful and cultural imagery.
For the Snap All Fleeting Bonds category, the Gold Prize depicted children playing in the mud, while the Silver and Bronze awards went to emotional portrayals of friendship and compassion.
The Snap Any Motion category featured stunning captures of athletes and dancers in motion, celebrating energy, focus and expression.
TECNO also announced that all category winners will embark on an exclusive London Photography Tour later in 2025.
The tour will allow winners to explore the city’s creative scene, connect with international photographers and capture the essence of one of the world’s most vibrant metropolises.
With over 10,000 entries and growing international attention, the Shot On CAMON contest continues to position TECNO as a global driver of mobile photography and artistic innovation.
